Hey All, I thought this dialogue would be important for all of you to see. Has anyone gotten their DVD from HP yet? I'm on the list but haven't seen hide nor hair of it yet. Just to reiterate what Mr. Moore has said below, CLUG does not have his permission to screen the movie for the group unless we purchase it. The case of 30 would cost $600 USD (or $913.20 CAN$, ouch!) not including shipping and duty.
I don't know if anyone is interested, particularly since so many of us have taken advantage of HP's offer. Marcel has raised an important question: what if the DVD HP is sending isn't the 'Revolution OS' that we are expecting or what if it is only a portion of the movie? I guess we'll see. In this light, if you have received a copy of the DVD from HP can you let us all know? Also, after you watch it let us know whether it is in fact J.T.S. Moore's Documentary. I just want to say for the record that Mr. Moore has been very cooperative in this matter and appears to be genuinely trying to help out. I think the offer for a case is fair and feasible. There are funds enough to cover this venture but I would need Executive Board approval to go ahead and I think I can safely say that we would also need to have firm commitment from members to purchase ALL 30 of the DVD's. I have not spoken to the other Executives but I think I can speak for them on this matter. We will talk about this formally soon however. If need be we can even have a vote on the matter. It's a big chunk of change. Just to throw out an alternative idea... Perhaps CLUG can purchase one copy of the DVD, get the official 'okay' to screen it and then make the DVD available to borrow. We would have to include some fairly strict policy on this as DVD's are prone to scratching. Something like "you scratch it, you bought it." How does this sound? In case you haven't figured it out by now, I am trying to do this with J.T.S. Moore's approval/blessing. I would hate for us to get in trouble for doing things on the fly.
