Hi Folks, Something I haven't seen in this discussion (or maybe am too dense to have realized) is people's impressions of WINE as a virus vector. I've read a piece or two that indicated some viruses are indeed quite WINE savvy. Because it (WINE) is emulating windows (and presumably it's registry), how much of a threat is it when WINE code is executed as a user?
If one is running MS-Office via Codeweaver's crossover plug-in on Linux, how far could it go WRT outlook email viruses? I'm not much of a WINE user but see it as both an important tool for migrating Windows desktop users, and also a undeserved smudge on Linux's thus far excellent record WRT viruses. I find it truly ironic that they may need to port/create antivirus software so that that people can run Windows software safely under Linux. It's all rotten, ...every last bit of it!
