I am in need of adventurous Read Hat 8 users wishing to try out ktoolzcool! the minions, i take it, are the configure/make command scripts? also, does this include the dependencies required, such as libgrypt and libart_gpl? sorry for the questions w/out looking, but i haven't grabbed the bzipball and taken a look yet...
for KDE 3.1.
This link will get you the startup shell
http://oss.homelinux.org/headrat/kbeast
The minions do as you say but in addition they get the tarballs, build and package them as rpms. I have to revise them though because they sometimes fork out of control from the kbeast shell. You will need the latest checkinstall beta installed as well.
I have and it looks to be a decent tool but it does not package or rpm install the compiled tarballs.
also, have you checked out konstruct yet? (http://konsole.kde.org/konstruct/) there are CVS snapshot tarballs on that website... their are now has 21 3rd party apps included along with all the library deps and base modules....
Not much point in having rpm if we don't use it. Any help getting the rest of the stuff in would be great...
Thanx, Konstruct seems to be a very well thought out tool. Certainly better than Ktoolz but I like to have proper packaging and rpm install to keep track of whats in the system. Further I only want to compile them once for all my systems. I used a similar system for Maxos. It was the only way I could manage so many packages. KDE has become so popular (HUGE) as to now require the same approach. I will also be making i686 rpms available as well with a tool for installing them. ... Further, mutterings about another tool I am considering to build custom RH8 install isos is based on jigdo that could use our custom rpms with redhat 8 is also being mulled about and I would really really really like your guidance with this one..
a fellow on IRC reported great success w/it on RH8 the other night...
i think there is deffinitely some interesting overlap between your project and konstruct.
cya, Dan
