I have found the nsupdate tool, and it seems to do what I need - modify the on a remote DNS server. However the server I'm trying to modify is a W2K server (I think). So, I need some guidance on how to do this.
I start nsupdate, and have a script to modify my records, but the original record isn't getting removed. I'm trying to change the IP address, and the original IP is still there, but so is my new entry. i.e. nslookup returns this: Name: mydomain.com Addresses: yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy, xxx.xxx..xxx.xxx (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the original address, yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy is the new address I've just added) I don't know if this is working yet, because it is too soon for the changes to have propogated to all servers (TTL is 900), but trying to ping mydomain.com returns the old address. Does anyone have experience with nsupdate? or can point me to some resources for using it against an MS server? Thanks. Shawn Grover Object Programmer ObjectWorks, Inc.
