Hello Clug Members and CRS,
I am forwarding the February Installfest information to the CRS. For those who aren't aware of CRS, they are the Computer Recycling Society. They have volunteers who wanted to be notified as soon as there was another CLUG Installfest. I am fulfilling a commitment agreed upon at the November 6, 2002 Clug Monthly meeting. I agreed to act as a messenger for the two organizations when any events or information came up that would be of interest to both groups. I will be out of town for the next two days. Although I can check my email while I am away, I may be too busy to respond to any potential questions until my return. Thank you Jarrod for organizing the Installfest. Like the last one, it will be a good time for all! The details are: Date: Saturday February 8, 2003 Time: 12:00pm - 4:30pm Place: Nexus Computer Books (311-17 Avenue S.W. (403) 229-2520) I will personally be doing a demo install of IPCop for anyone interested. I'm sure that others will be on hand for support of various distros. Perhaps this would be a good event to work on setting up a PGP key and key swapping. Anyone wanting to lend a hand would be greatly appreciated. We will need power bars, copies of distros for installation and demo purposes. It might be a good idea to bring a chair, I'm not sure how many Nexus will be able to spare. I'm pretty sure we will be able to swing some sort of Internet connectivity again. I would think that dowloading an ISO would be very bad but updates, driver downloading and info searches would probably be fine. I'll clarify those details with Nexus. For those attending to learn; please have complete system specifications. Do yourself a favour and do a search on linux hardware (check google, I'm not sure of the URL right now) to make sure what you are bringing is compatible and has decent driver support. So far I have had the following people express an interest: Marcel Lecker Garth Meisel Aaron Seigo Bill Currie Kevin Anderson Terry Kolaszar Dave Lee Cade Cairns Cameron Nikitiuk Chris Wallace Peter Williams Shawn Grover If any of you could make a firm committment of your intent I'd appreciate it. Anyone is welcome to attend. We will have signage at Nexus advertising the event. Our website has been updated. Nexus will most likely have a note on their site as well. We will also plug this at the next meeting. Thanks again to Nexus for hosting us at their fine establishment. -- Jarrod Major CLUG Treasurer Registered Linux User: #224211
