Hello all, I've been talking to Peter about the stability problems I've been having and he suggested that maybe I had IRQ conflicts. Please excuse my ignorance but while I understand the basic concept of IRQs, that is about as far as my knowledge goes. Anyways I decided to take a look at /var/log/dmesg to see if I could find anything related to this. I have pulled out a couple of log entries that show a number of devices using IRQ 12. This is the first thing I found:
PCI: Found IRQ 12 for device 00:07.2 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:07.3 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:0b.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:0b.1 usb-uhci.c: USB UHCI at I/O 0xd400, IRQ 12 usb-uhci.c: Detected 2 ports usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1 hub.c: USB hub found hub.c: 2 ports detected PCI: Found IRQ 12 for device 00:07.3 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:07.2 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:0b.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:0b.1 Then later on it shows this: bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). PCI: Found IRQ 12 for device 00:0b.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:07.2 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:07.3 PCI: Sharing IRQ 12 with 00:0b.1 bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 00:0b.0, irq: 12, latency: 32, mmio: 0xe7001000 My question is, could this be the problem, and if so what would I need to do to give each device it's own irq? Thanks, Jesse
