Since we are all so fond of Acronyms, I have taken a cue from SuSE and
provided this one:

Yet another Post on Mailing List Etiquette

As one of the current Executive and one who is subscribed to this mailing list
I would ask, no beg, the rest of you to please play nice with the rest of us.
Something my Mother taught me when I was young was, if you don't have
anything nice to say then don't say anything.

I would like to extend this and say that if you are writing something
blatantly inflammatory you are just disrupting this list for those of us that
find it useful. Again, it is a public list, that is archived and having
derogatory remarks herein is recorded and reflected on all of the group.

I applaud all of the individuals on this list who have the patience to try and
help people who are having difficulties. I also applaud those who do not rise
to flame-bait. I suspect that those who do post inflammatory remarks will
continue to do so because they don't know any better or are suffering from
low self-esteem and any attention is good for them, please do not cater to
these people at all costs.

I think that the mailing list has been suffering lately and all of us along
with it. There has been some good discussions, some interesting news items,
some good questions and some really good answers. Unfortunately, we have had
a great deal of bashing lately and some hard feelings. This is not so good. I
believe the next Executive will have to sit down and work on some changes for
this mailing list.

I am not so nave to think that this is a problem that will go away entirely
but I am hopeful and optimistic to believe that the majority of individuals
on this list are capable of more intelligent conversation. I also understand
that we are a passionate bunch of people as well. I urge you to not let your
passion cloud your judgement when it comes time to face the next person who
has a contrary opinion to yours.

I would also like to paraphrase Aaron here if I can. Listing all of the
problems with Windows is not necessarily helping our cause. Bashing your
opposition does not automatically make you rise above them, on the contrary,
you appear petty and dodgy regarding your own strengths. This is not an
invitation to have posts listing Microsoft flaws and how Linux is better. I
would like to see people just explain or highlight their successes with
Linux. Tell us the latest "killer app" you've discovered. I understand the
need to compare but try and do it with more tact, more objectivity. Saying
"Microsoft sucks" even if you back it up with reasons doesn't help us.

Thanks you for your cooperation.
