Hi Roy. Let me know what you need with researching and I would be happy to assist.
Academic, scientific and business research have been the staples of my life for more
than 15 years. And technology research, specifically open-source, Linux and global
trends have been a focus for the past 4-5 years. I also have an archive of over 1000
articles, news releases, white papers, predictions etc focused primarily on Linux and
OSS, which may be of some help. I would also like to recommend a few influential
papers, current and past, assuming you are not already aware of them. Also...I beleive
you responded to the survey I put out last year about a Business Oriented Linux/OSS
Presentation/Seminar in Calgary. This is still a go, and there are other companies
involved and we have a location, date, domain name and various supporters ready to
help with promotion. There will be a notice/news release with a few weeks or so.

Subject: (clug-talk) GNU/Linux presentation, research help needed.

Next month I will be giving a presentation at the University of
Lethbridge on Linux. My opening presentation topic will be GNU and the
future of technology followed by a hands on look at Linux for many of
the people that come. I am planning a 20 intro to GNU as a reflection of
the history of technology, the threats against open technology that face
us today and how open source thinking in technology and other areas are
vital to the longevity of humanity as a species.

I need some help with some research. I know a few people receiving this
already have this information so please email me directly if you can
help.

Isaac Asimov predicted the fax machine. What year? What book?

Companies and individuals are filling patents on sections of the human
genome. I have a few questions about this so any experts please contact
me.<a
href="http://www.hgalert.org/topics/lifePatents/patent.htm"target="top";>http://www.hgalert.org/topics/lifePatents/patent.htm

I have some other research that needs to be done on general topics so if
you have Internet and a few hours to spend on <a
href="http://www.google.com"target="top";>http://www.google.com let
me know.

I was planning on using Knoppix to do the demo, but I see there has been
a lot of work on the CLUG version. Is it ready? Should I flash that at
the demo? Should we hand out free copies of that?

I need confirmation on the date, I think it is March 11. I have no time
or address yet just that it is early evening at the UofL.

The CIA at the UofL are putting this on. I believe the public is welcome
and food will be served. <a
href="http://www.cs.uleth.ca/~acm8/"target="top";>http://www.cs.uleth.ca/~acm8/
They may be
looking for help. There is a contact on their site.

I don't know if the CIA has made any posters yet but I would like to
suggest some input on them. I have not clue about how far along that is.
I would like to see a nice flash colour version in HTML or PDF for
posting on web sites.

I need to make some CDs for people. Some help doing this is welcome. I
need to check with CLUG people about using their version of Knoppix for
the demo. I don't know if they are ready to show it off yet.

We need help getting the message out so if some people in the Lethbridge
area would like to contact the local news papers, TV and radio stations
and any one else that can help spread the word.

Open source opens minds!
