Hey All,

I just did something trivial but I thought it was cool. I'm one of those weird
people that likes my panel/taskbar docked on the left side of my screen
rather than top or bottom.

I was rather annoyed by the fact that when I did this the background did a
repeating pattern that I wasn't overly impressed with. You see the gradient
in this case is set for a horizontal orientation. Since mine is oriented
vertically, it looks funny.

The solution, fire up the GIMP, open my chosen background (in this case
SuSE.png) rotate it 90 and as I am logged in as a user not root, I have to
save it in my home directory. Open up a console, su, chown the file for root,
mv it to the appropriate directory and change the background image for
Kicker.

I'm sure there is a simpler way of doing it (like starting up GIMP from a
console where I am root?). At any rate my gradient background is now
repeating properly for a vertically oriented kicker bar.

Neat!

Anyone needing clarification let me know. I can walk through it with more
detail... paths and such.
