ok, here's my opinion on it:

i understand this and have used such articles in the past to help certain
individuals in business decision making positions understand the liabilities
associated with certain platforms.

the flip side is that this is a list primarily about Linux and Open Source /
Free Software. when there are numerous threads that do not follow that topic,
it makes this list less worthwhile.

of course, some people here have an interest in MS Windows, so maybe that
justifies it. some also have an interest in Solaris. we COULD discuss Solaris
issues all the time. others are interested in stamp collecting.

this list is simply not topical for daily MS Windows discussions. if it's
interop questions (Windows 'n Linux boxes), great.. otherwise, my mailbox for
clug (which now has 9174 msgs in it =) doesn't need filler.

if there is ongoing and continued interest among CLUG members to discuss
Windows information (e.g. with an eye to Linux promotion) perhaps i could
suggest the creation of another email list for that purpose. i know "separate
lists" has been discussed before, but it's a rock and a hard place:

we either get all the email in one place and have a signal-noise ratio that
borders on unacceptable

or

we divide up the discussions to allow quality, on-topic discussion

you can sign up to both lists if you wish, of course.
