Have you changed your security and network settings for PostgreSQL?
By default most distro's install with security super high and no access for anyone.

I have a simple document to show what needs to be changed here.

I have not used postgres for a couple years now and have been spending all my time with Oracle and MySQL. But today I decide to get back to using postgres for some things. But, things must have changed in the newest releases, or its my own limitations. But I cant connect to a newly installed db??

If this is too far off topic from specific "LINUX ONLY" topics, please email me off list if you can help and I will provide more info.

Thanks
