I had decided to drop my PHP efforts for the night, and move on to more review/research for email servers. I decided to use webmin to examin my Postfix configuration, but oops, I forgot to start the webmin service. So I added webmin to start on bootup (for my local network access only - my firewall is blocking the ports, I hope).
After that, I did some reading on squirrelmail. And the thought "it needs php, so I shouldn't worry about it right now" went through my head. But out of some perverse desire to torture myself, I tested my php files again. I was floored - php files are now getting rendered correctly. but near as I can tell, the only thing I did was to run the rc-update command to start webmin automagically on bootup. I hadn't modified anymore apache config files since my earlier post (which seems to be stuck in my mail queue as I'm typing this). I'll still bring the box with me in the morning (later today??) - if only to speculate on why it suddenly works right... See ya then. Shawn
