Much as I hate to say this. I'd recommend sticking with a legacy OS. SQL to me means "important to the business". That's not something that SHOULD be run on WINE even if it could be. WINE is kind of a workaround, and you'll find that you're one of very few people running it, so support would be difficult. The closed source vendor will not support you, and the Open Source people will be running something else, so you'd generally only recieve guesses for answers.
