Hey
I seem to be having a problem with Apache and I sort of know whats wrong
but maybe not. I'm running RH 8 and had the original install version of
Apache, okay, so then I didn't know much about Linux and whatever and I
wanted the latest version of Apache so I downloaded the then latest version
and built it from source put the files in /usr/local/apache2 and thought
that I had disabled the already installed verision so that it wouldn't run.
Appearently I was wrong, the old version still starts when I have need to
reboot the system, not very often mind you but it causes me problems as I
need the new install to serve some web stuff for work. So my question is,
how can I absolutely make sure that the old version of Apache that was
originally installed does not start on bootup on my system? I tried to
remove the package but it didn't like that idea. Should I maybe get rid of
the new installation, build an rpm or upgrade the original install and have
at it that way?
Show me the light,
Evan Brown
