hi all...

thought this might be of interest to some... a friend installed the new RH 
beta to test out its KDE integration, and it was pretty favourable... so, 
hats off to RH for slowly getting it's desktop act together... but what was 
REALLY quite interesting, at least to me, was this little jem of a discovery:

As I said in the last email I built a few apps from source with no problems.
I also for kicks (though I don't recommend this in general) linking /opt/kde3
to /usr (appropriate for Redhat) and was able to install and use several apps
from SuSE binary RPMs.

The KDevelop sample application builds and runs as well.

that's right.. SuSE 8.x binaries installed onto RH(9+1) that worked without a 
hitch with only a single sylink required. proof that Linux is indeed 
antifragmenting despite all the noise we put up with to the contrary over the 
years..
