that's right.. SuSE 8.x binaries installed onto RH(9+1) that worked without a hitch with only a single sylink required. proof that Linux is indeed antifragmenting despite all the noise we put up with to the contrary over the years..
Correct me if I am wrong but you don't even need the symlink. RPM already supports installing into a different root directory already. Ultimately though, I would rather modify my spec file to make sure everything is going in the right spots and rebuild the rpm. But of course that's a lot of extra work.
