This is an excellent idea. The schools are always talking to Microsoft but, the schools are always crying about cash. The ROI for them with Linux would be a huge annual savings even with their educational discounts.

Subject: (clug-talk) CBE Wants to hear from us - it's a start at least.

I have finally found a school principal who is interested in a quick demonstration of Linux.

She understands that it against CBE Policy and that she cannot impliment it immediately in her school.

I would like to prepare a 1 page persuasive essay on why it is worth her spending 1-2 hours for a 'CLUG meeting on steroids' where she can see a few samplings on what Linux can offer to the school.

Assuming this is done well, I believe that she can help to drive it from inside CBE.  A principal would certainly have more 'pull' than a bunch of geeks chanting "Linux rules".

Also, if this has been done before (especially successfully), I'd like to learn more about it.  Links appreciated.

I'd also be interested in suggestions and/or volunteers.  I'll write the paper myself, but I could use some additional hands if/when it came time to actually present something.

Thanks
Kev.
