We've done this sort of thing before. At the last one (I think - my memory is kinda shot right now), Jarrod did a presentation on IPCop for anyone interested. Those who weren't continued installing, and discussing things with other people / mentors.
I'd be interested to see a presentation on LFS. Is it possible to go through an LFS install in a short period? (say 30 - 45 minutes?) If not, then I would humbly suggest this type of presentation might be better suited for one of the monthly meetings - but by all means, it'd be great to hear more about it at the installfest. On a personal note, it's no secret I currently favor Gentoo, but I've been giving some thought to trying out LFS on my other computer to at least get a little familiar with it... See you at the installfest! Who are Installfest's target to? Is it for beginners who need help with their first time installation, or do people also join who want to try out something new but aren't perse Linux newbies? Yes there's an ulterior motive behind the question. I've talked to some people at the meeting last night and to some others by email, who have installed LinuxFromScratch before, or have heard about it but aren't quite ready to try it out yet, etc. If there are people here who'd like to take the plunge and try out an LFS installation, I'd be more than happy to help out where needed. We need beta testers of our upcoming 5.0 release anyways, so dual purpose ;o) But if I know up-front people would like to try it out, I can look into maybe bringing some material (ie: copies of a bootable LFS CD so one could start with an empty harddisk). -- Gerard Beekmans http://www.linuxfromscratch.org http://www.beekmansworld.com // Linux Consultant --- OSDN / DevChannel // If Linux doesn't have the solution, you have the wrong problem
