given that you have enough RAM, sure. but you'll probably only get to run at
800x600 ... 768 * 16 is 1536, which is probably a little much to fit in your
2MB VRAM. you could drop to 8bit but i'd sooner drop resolution than colours.

no, the LILO: prompt occurs when you first turn on your computer before the OS
boots. if you are using grup instead of LILO you'll get the grub prompt
instead. once you are at the login prompt it's already too late as you are in
runlevel 5. if you do manage to log in as root at this point use this command
to switch to runlevel 3:
telinit 3

no, this is the boot loader not a file. you'll need to edit your /etc/
lilo.conf to install it to the right place and then run /sbin/lilo to perform
the install... man lilo for more info, or check out the LILO HOWTO online.
