great!

got the 3com card working but everytime i reboot i have to keep running
'make load' or 'insmod 3c2000' to make it work, no train smash but its
workable nonetheless. im looking now to the 'ethernet how-to' to figure out
how to make it load with modules.conf

got the radeon 9800 working too but without any 3d acceleration and
unfortunately screen fonts dont look too nice, very jagged edges and
antialiasing doesnt work with the fonts in the YaST control panel appy. once
again no biggy but reading webpages is a pain.

i tried suse 9.0 evaluation earlier and it plays nicely with the 3com nic,
and it 'appears' to like the radeon until X is loaded then all X hell breaks
loose.

its really not the hardware at all, i feel that given some time all this
so-called new H/W (radeon, SATA, p4 HT cpu etc) will become generic and
every distro of linux will work hundreds with them.

I think at the very least you need the latest xfree 4.3.0...?
I seem to remember something about that for the later
Radeon cards when trying to get my IGP320m working
on my laptop.
try looking uo xfre.org and googling for xfree & radeon 9800
etc
