Just my $.02, but Im gonna stay away from ATI, at least for now. Thier 
'drivers' are a half-ass attempt, especially when you see the nvidia drivers 
install with 0 effort.

Tips, check DRI website dri.sourceforge.net, make sure you have the latest X 
version, and good luck...
