I would mount a remote windows box on the server, then use TAR to backup whatever it is you need. I'd bet money that C$ is shared on all of the Windows boxes, so you should have no problem mounting and backing up anything you need/want.
Again, keep in mind that this will not work for files over 2 gigs. In those cases, I've created a little script on the Windows box to connect to the Samba box, and copy it's files across.
