I'm not sure of these support type questions are appropriate for the CLUG
mailing list but if it isn't feel free to let me know.

I recently put debian on an old p166 box which I plan to use as an ftp
server. And I haven't been able to get apt to work at all. I've tried tons
of different mirrors and i've even borrowed the sources list from someone
else. But every one times out.

I did have some network card issues during installation. Apparently the 2.4
kernel doesn't have support for linksys etherfast 10/100 Lan card so I
simply popped in a fast etherlink xl 3com card and loaded the appropriate
driver. I am able to get an ip address from my isp and I am able to ping
www.yahoo.com and other places.

The first time I installed debian on the box I accidently installed the 2.2
kernel but before I realized I installed it instead of 2.4 I did manage to
get the apt system working perfectly fine..which leads me to beleive the
problem may be with the nic card.

Any suggestions woudl be great.
