NTFS Kernel support is still 'experimental' and hence wont be included in 
[most] stock distro kernels. Try  

#modprobe ntfs

if modprobe succeeds, you'll be able to mount the partition, if not, let me 
know and Ill tell you how to compile the module the 'easy' way.
