Season's Greetings from the President and the Executive Board of the Calgary
Linux Users Group 2003

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a
wonderful holiday season. I hope that you had a good year and that 2004 will
be even better.

CLUG had a very interesting year. We watched our membership grow
consistently. The attendance of our monthly meetings has also seen
considerable growth. We packed in an average of 40 people per meeting over
the course of the year.

We attended Convergence 2003, held no less than four InstallFests, held the
annual CLUG Barbecue, attended Nexus' Open House and the Calgary Unix Users
Group Open House. We also gained our Society status. All in all, a busy year
for us indeed.

2004 will be just as active or more so. We have already been contacted by
the folks at Convergence, we will undoubtedly have more InstallFests, we
will be having our AGM early in the New Year, and another Barbecue among
other things. We hope that you are in this for the long haul, Linux is here
to stay and we are very excited to think of the possibilities.

The 2.6 kernel has been released. Things are getting pretty exciting with
regards to 64bit processors. Apps are maturing. There has been some shake
ups within the community but I believe it will help us in the long run.

As President of our Group I have many things to be thankful for. I work with
some very good people on the Executive; Marcel Lecker, Kari Major, Dave
Bourassa, Jeff Clement and Dan Graham. I believe that we are a very good
team and I look forward to our continued relationships.

There are numerous others within our group that consistently lend us a hand
in whatever way they can at meetings, InstallFests and whatever else we do.
We have a number of people fielding all sorts of questions both on our
mailing list and off. We have had a host of people volunteer to do
presentations at our meetings month in and month out. All of these things
combined equal success in my book.

Thank-you all! See you in two weeks.

Sincerely,

Jarrod Major
President, Calgary Linux Users Group
