I have to side with Jes on this...I used to work in a computer training company (largest in the world) that like most of there lik was obviously Windows-centric. That is because that is what people want, because that is what they are used to. Having something that is familiar is a lot easier to adapt to, than retraining yourself, and for most people...I think about one of my clients for example...he is intelligent...very technically minded and all that...BUT...he needs his stuff to work out of the box everytime.. and like now. He has grown-up around the win-gui and so that is how has become as streamlined and effective at his job as he is. For him to suddenly go to Gnome or even KDE....he doesn;t have the time or the paitience to re-learn how to use a computer to get his job done. > 2) Some companies may have problems with their employees using Linux on > their desktop, even if it can do everything that Windows can. Lots of themeing kits out there to make your windows environment look like KDE or gnome too. > 3) Some people may just like the Windows desktop better than GNOME or > KDE (although I'm not sure why). Truth be told...I don;t mind the win-gui that much and I have been blessed with hardly any blue sceens in my very vintage (at least a year 2k install). I have thought about theming and changing my environment a bit...but until I have a stink-load of time to do it...I will wait. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca
