I think CF might be cheaper /mb, and it looks 100% like an IDE device - it's good for the really old stuff that doesn't do USB. On the flip side, USB is great for it's compatibility with newer machines. I have never booted from mine, as I don't have machines quite that new. In the future, with a large usb keychain, you could do without even the knoppix CD - have it all on the keychain and only have that one device to carry around. At a friends house and need linux?
