This type of malfunction is very rare. I have seen  something similar only 
once before. There is the remote possibility, some quo  files may get stuck, 
and re-processed again ... this is a very rare situation. There could be the 
chance, also, that one of our venerable isps has some problems with their 
servers, note shaw was down for a good 2-3 hours on sunday, and the mail 
server was down even longer :-), and i have a gut-feeling they where down 
again sometime during the middle of the week. If this could be the cause, 
then .....
I think, the let's wait and see option is a viable one in this case.

Note: 
So far i saw no repeat emails from the mailing-list today ...
