Thanks Jesse. I've vexed the / bit, and tried again - still same result. My message bounces back to me right away with a "no transport available" type message.
I looked at the link you posted, but don't see anything immediate that I've done differently. But, it was a quick look - I dig deeper this weekend. I did some googling for you, while I couldn't find your exact error there were similar posts that people fixed by upping the softlimit. There is also a qmail newsgroup and a clamav mailing list that might yeild some more expertise.
