Thanks Doug, Curtis and Jeff,

You have all said some very kind words and I/we appreciate them.

Some of the goals we are going to be working on (this is unofficial as we
didn't want to get ahead of ourselves) are:

- - investigating not-for-profit status requirements
- - investigating insurance for the group and its Exec
- - more InstallFests
- - developing/encouraging SIG's
- - developing/encouraging committees to share the burden of some of the work we
do
- - looking for more sponsors (Memory Express tops that list) actually the whole
sponsorship thing is due for a review
- - providing more interesting topics for everyone involved, nube and old guard
alike
- - being more organized
- - preparing materials/presentations for doing a demo of Linux and/or Open/Free
Software to anyone who approaches us or who we think we could advocate to (ie
CBE, City of Calgary, Community Organizations, etc.)

That's what I can come up with off the top of my head.

We want to come up with a budget for this term to give everyone an idea of
what we are spending your money on, this is all part and parcel with the
whole transparency thing we discussed last night.

We are also looking at zero-risk investments like GIC's to have our unused
funds actually do something that aids in our sustainability. GIC's are one
idea. We are charged a monthly fee for our bank account and it would be nice
if we had some kind of interest to earn something back to offset these costs.
I believe we have enough of a surpus to do this without affecting our
operating expenses and also leave money in case we have unforeseen expenses.

I see this year as working on making CLUG a more cohesive group. Really tap
into the potential of our members. The survey we had indicated that people
want to help out so we would like to set tasks. We have been ruminating about
a mentoring program, Marcel has some good ideas about that and once we have
something more concrete we'll present the idea to the group to see what kind
of support we can get.

The sky is the limit. We're still relatively small but I think we are working
towards some long-term goals. We are consistently increasing our numbers both
in attendance at meetings and in membership.

Exciting times ahead, I'm glad I am along for the ride.
