1) Load your linux with the key single. Like:
boot: linux single
You will gain all the root rights and then use passwd command to enter NEW passord.
2) Use lilo or grub for multi bootoing. Have a look at #man lilo and you will get information how to create /etc/lilo.conf properly then run #/sbin/lilo and your system will be ready for dual boot.
3) HP5P can work with the most generic PCL driver. This is a very friendly printer :)
Provide more information in order I could find some decission for you.
Good luck Ray

Hi:
I am a new Linux (Mandrake 9.2) user, switched from OS/2 Warp4, because it is now very hard to find OS/2 drivers for the newer hardware. Consequently, I have a lot to learn. So for this reason I'd like to join the CLUG and hope to come to the next meeting. I am using and programming computers since 1970.
Right now my immediate problem #1. is that I lost or misspelled the root password. My question is: do I have to reinstall again and to what degree to create a new password or is there a way to recover the current one? (I have /usr, /var, /home, /tmp partitions beside the root and swap).
#2.: I have or will have a DOS and an OS/2 partition. When installing LINUX I didn't have a chance to poin to those partitions in LILO. Is there a way to include them later? Shall I rather use Boot magic for boot manager?
#3: My Mandrake Linux won't recognize th HP5P network printer connected to a D-Link router. Do I need to find a ner driver?
Any suggestion is very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Joseph.
