Hi gang.

I decided it was about time to install a Linux desktop system, and settled
on Mandrake 10 Community edition. I was impressed with the install, and the
overall system seems to be working very well. My hardware was mostly
detected automagically (except the printer, but set that up afterwards), and
the performance of the system is very good.

However, for some reason, I'm having problems getting my network config
setup properly. I have gone through the system configuration tool and
removed eth0 outright, then added it back in taking care to enter all the
details properly (I'm not using DHCP) including my default gateway and name
server (both at 192.168.0.1). However, name resolution constantly fails for
me. I tried to look through /etc for an appropriate resolv.conf file or
something similar, but haven't been able to find one. I did find the
nsswitch.conf file, but didn't see anything in there that would really help
(not that I fully understand how that file works). My windows installation
(different hard drive, same box) and my Gentoo server is setup with the same
info and are able to connect to the Internet fine. I've tried logging in as
my regular user account, as well as root, and both accounts are affected.
Any tips or suggestions? I'm sure I've missed something stupid.

Thanks muchly.

Shawn
