Excellent Mike! None of the ip's in my logs are 204.209.209.89, obviously not legitimate so I will simply block them.

But does anyone know if my shaw modem will have trouble if I start blocking ICMP / IGMP and Multicast packets?

The shaw modems have a IP limitation built in, it doesn't actively check
what computers are attached. It just limits traffic to X active IP's
depending on what you're paying for.

Shaw's abuse department will port scan customers if there has been
complaints or if they are monitoring your bandwidth for abuse issues.
Any scans initiated by shaw will come from the following host
authorized-scan.corp.shaw.ca (204.209.209.89).

Any other scans out of shaw IP space are most likely hacked windoze
boxes searching for new hosts to infect. They should be reported to the
shaw abuse department at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
