Remember, there isn't ALWAYS a HOWTO for something a user will want to do. This, however, is uncommon, especially if a Windows-like operation is required.
I wonder what that C# question was about...

There's as many attitudes as there are users. Many new users haven't the slightest bit of interest in how Linux does things. They just want to know how to make their new Linux box do the things their Windows box does. They're also used to expecting to get their way for nothing, having paid for their stuff in the past. This leads to many strange encounters between the two:
- "Where's a good virus scanner for Linux?" "You don't need one."
- "How do you make an icon that turns on ppp?" "Open an xterm and type "pon.""
- "How do I do blah?" "Read the blah HOWTO."
It takes two to learn, and with unreasonable expectations on both sides, it can often lead to frustrating exchanges for both.
I try to just be polite, don't talk down to someone until you see their eyes roll up in their heads, and gently question whether they really want to do that when they ask for something I know to be silly (or dangerous). Given time, we can usually meet somewhere in the middle. If not, quietly go your separate ways.
