in polish, yes. they've withdrawn their Q&A team, and cut back on "enterprise"
features (like multiple fs choices) .... the community around Fedora is still
largely Red Hat employees, but the goal is a rough stone which they will then
polish up into a gem (in theory) for their EL, AL and WS offerings. sad.

on the other hand, things like YUM and a truly minimal install are a huge step
forward.

some things remain the same: Disk Druid has always sucked and apparently isn't
getting any better.

there are other options out there =)

well, the bonus of emerge is that it enables building everything from source
with customizations via USE variables. otherwise, it's not any more
compelling than apt-get, urpmi or yast.

in fact, i have two major bones of contention with it:

o no GPG signing (kevin just KNEW that was coming, didn't you Kevin? ;)
o no safeties against concurrent usage. two sessions can be "happily"
emerging their way simultaneously with no safeguards in the way.

on that note, YUM goes too far in protecting against concurrency IMHO. you
can't even do a package SEARCH (which is read only) at the same time as
anything else (search, install, etc)... this is patently bogus. a database
should be readable at all times. such big locks went out with the 80s. hell,
even MySQL managed to get away from them ;-)
