I will bring an extra copy for you (it is 3 disks) If you don't have any disks at this time, not a big problem

Hey Darcy,

A guy at work just had a major blow out with his Windows Me computer and is
PO'd at it. From what he is explaining part of the OS uninstalled itself.
Hmmm...maybe that is a good thing? ;-)

Anyways...I loaned him a copy of Knoppix 3.2 that he is going to use on that
system to play with and see if he can recover his ME or just examine what is
going on. Hard drive seems to be chirping so it may be dead HDD. I
mentioned Mandrake 10 and how easy it is to use, and if the offer is still
good maybe you could burn a copy of it for him so he has something that he
can install. I have installed it a few times and have a manual for it, so
could always help him out with any problems.

I also have a copy of Linspire (formally Lindows that I could give him a
copy of).

Let me know if you can and I wills ee if I can scrape together an extra
CD...I will be at the meeting tonite.

Incoming from Graham Monk:

As some of you may know, Jerry Pournelle has a web site called

Chaos Manor

that covers various subjects including politics, space flight,

SciFi and

computers.

A while back Jerry was going on about the latest windows virus

and I offered

to send Him copies of some modern Distros to try. Today He

wrote back and

gave Me an address. I will be sending copies of Knoppix, SuSE

9.0 and SuSE

live 9.1. Does anybody want to volunteer anything else to add

to the package?

Bravo! I love Jerry's stuff. Way to go Graham! If he has any
trouble with anything you send him, you might point out to him that
there's quite a few newbie friendly distros out there nowadays.
Knoppix, yes, but Libranet comes to mind too. They have a very

newbie>>friendly mailing list as well. And, of course, they're
Canadian. :-)

Considering the recent less than glowing reviews of Fedora, I'd

think>>a lot of people ought to try Libranet.

Way cool. Good work!
