I don't think it is a bug as they do say that VMware does have to have focus 
in order for h/w detection to work.

Putting together a product using VMware and rdesktop is a lot cleaner and 
smoother than switching consoles. I can do it with the console switch, but 
with a whole lot of associated trouble and hacks to X and the kernel.
