I think your your situation is a bit different; Shaw has never allowed 
access (POP3 or SMTP) to their own (Shaw's) email servers from outside 
the Shaw network So you have to use their webmail, if you are coming in 
from another network.

By the way the port 25 blocking from Telus seems to have started 
sometime on Monday night.
