btw, both KEdit and KWrite do spell checking, and it's under the Tools menu. 
not sure in what version of KDE they got support for that, but i wouldn't be 
surprised if they had it in 3.1

i think KEdit got "soft wrap" mode in KDE 3.2. you can always check by going 
into Settings -> Configure KEdit, click on the Miscelaneous tab and there 
should be a Word Wrap entry where you can choose "Soft wrap" (which means it 
shows the line wrapped in the editor, but saves it on one line... ) ...

i love gardening =) haven't done it for years, but when i lived on the West 
Coast i did a fair amount of it.
