I've had no problems with credit card, either. There used to be a 3% surcharge on all credit card purchases, but that was apparently due to American Express and has since been dropped (along with accepting American Express). I have had to show my card each time, and although the process is not yet predictable (they once took a photocopy of my card, and sometimes it takes more than a few minutes to confirm CLUG sponsorship with a manager) I've never had it revoked or reneged.
