I recommend you first create a symbolic link to alias mozilla with
mozilla-1.6. Based on your emails this should do:

ln -s /usr/bin/mozilla-1.6 /usr/bin/mozilla

This will link mozilla with mozilla-1.6 (So you can run mozilla from the
command line as mozilla OR mozilla-1.6).

If you are using konqueror as your desktop and the icons are gone - you
should be able to right mouse click the desktop, select "Create New.."
from the menu, select "File", then click "Link To Application". You
should get a properties dialog. You can click the icon and select what
you wish to have. Enter an appropriate name for the link in the edit
box. Next select the "Application" tab on the dialog. Next to command
click "browse", find /usr/bin/mozilla (or mozilla-1.6 if you didn't
create a symbolic link) double click it select OK, then click OK again.
You should have a link on your desktop now.

If you are using konqueror you can then take the desktop icon that has
been created and drag it onto the icon bar (bottom left) to add it to
the icons (if its not there).
