blackdown.org is faster than Sun's
The one from BEA WebLogic (JRocket) is faster than blackdown's but has 
some 'known' issues.

I use blackdown's all the time (on Linux :-) ) never had a big issue 
with it.

If you are doing jsp/servlets make sure you pre-compile things using 
IBM's Jikes.
