IBM's JavaVM is faster than Sun's, especially in starting big tasks, but you can experience more stability problems with it. The basic parts of BlackDown is byte-to-byte exactly the same as Sun's Java. Just Sun's release has some different parts for development, but DO NOT expect any speed improvement running your tasks on BlackDown against Sun... By the way Java is one of these rare computer tasks, where CPU speed has kind a big issue.
