-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hey Group,
I mentioned at the last meeting that because we are facing a municipal election, now would be a good time to contact your Alderman and any candidates in your ward as well as Mayor Bronconnier and all the candidates for Mayor and ask them pointed questions on their stance on Linux and Free/ Open Source Software. Getting Municipalities behind the use and promotion of this software would be highly beneficial to our cause. Use this opportunity to vote based on things you hold dear. If you have never contacted your Alderman, now is the time to do so. The Municipal elections are next Monday, October 18th. Please take the time to find out what these people feel about your issues and vote accordingly. They will be governing our city for the next four (?) years. It also wouldn't hurt to talk to the candidates for School Trustees as this is another area of opportunity for Linux and FOSS. It's an uphill battle but every voice counts, especially at election time. I was asked to clarify my request after the meeting by one of the gentlemen in attendance. It is simple, if we want to try to advocate the use of Linux and Free/Open Source software, what better way than exercising our voice to those people who directly govern us, our own city's Council and Mayor. At the very least you can feel proud that you have spoken your piece and made an informed decision. I do realize that there are many more issues that are more important than the use of Linux and FOSS and people wanting to address those concerns should do so. I was just trying to throw another one into the mix. - -- Jarrod Major GPG Fingerprint: FA4A 1EA3 A0EE A842 07BB 804C 0090 14F6 BE6E DE3D Registered Linux User: #224211 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iQCVAwUBQWxFuACQFPa+bt49AQKA1gP+I/+yuUk/6QLwxmQ2uJYjzs16kRHajSNY gqzNKcjfGNp7bTlQrQeGcrEbij4f5dG1Oo5FNIwIJ/AReyrHaV8JD9mFtbuJ8M5p CYb81EKJKBmuavNdoTQdFpHa4u5IPlGYqEZrPXORECu7Nuddi3RQqrXId6jRz8dq Ga4VSv8XNUI= =qY9b -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
