I feel like weighing in on this today. Since first hearing about GMail, I've often wondered: for what reason could I _possibly_ want to store up to 1GB of e-mail or other personal content on someone else's server without any control over the system or data retention? I love using Google.com as much as anybody, but remember: Google is a big company, and that means profit is their bottom line. I appreciate that they hire smart people and provide incredibly useful free services. They may be more ethical (today) than some of the other companies in the market, but that doesn't mean that they are looking out for the individual. I'm not trying to encourage paranoia or say that profit is bad and corruptive; rather that Google's best interests are almost certainly not those of the individual, including privacy concerns. My two cents, Curtis S. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
