Ok, so somehow, this went from my pointing out that people use GMail because it's better than Hotmail (based on the storage space given), and that the privacy concerns mentioned don't concern me because of the way I use the account, to "Ian clearly doesn't care about his privacy or anyone else's and he counsels people to surrender their civil rights" (ok, I'm paraphrasing a little bit). It's sad that we got here, and it's time to put this to bed. GMail doesn't concern me from a privacy point of view. Read that slowly. "does not concern ME". Several people felt compelled to share with the list why they don't use GMail because of privacy concerns. Good for you. Stand by your convictions. I'm glad you shared your point of view, and I'm sure some people on this list will take that to heart when deciding whether or not to accept a GMail invitation. I'm telling the list I do use GMail because TO ME the concerns are mitigated by the fact that most everything I get to this email address is already archived publicly (mailing lists) or is just simply not something I would consider to be private. You had your say, I had mine.
