VidaLinux failed at random spots during the install.  But with the same CD I 
was able to install with no problems on my spare desktop drive.  So I suspect 
it's failing on something related to the older hardware

I tried Suse again, without the KDE desktop - I'm looking at the default 
blackbox desktop right now...  I also downloaded the first ISO for Debian and 
will probably take a look tomorrow...

I had a client ask me if I could find a home for it (and a Toshiba 266).  Of 
course, I wasn't going to say no... <grins>  Check with Computer Trends - 
they carry some older laptops, at more or less reasonable prices...
