My memory tells me that although I thought I'd tested non Telus addresses, I do now recall that I had only tested Telus addresses. My apologies for the misleading information. > To be honest I find it hard to believe, that the Telus SMTP server is an > open relay. It would put them onto more RBL's (black lists) than I can For sure, no arguments there. > Is it possible, that your Dad only has success sending emails to other > Telus customers? That should work just fine. In fact, he has been able to send to both Telus and non-Telus customers just fine and given other higher priority work, I never looked into it further until now. As a result of this thread, I took a look at the headers of an email he sent to me and it would appear that the ISP at his end is trapping port 25 and redirecting through their own SMTP server. So regardless of the SMTP setting in Thunderbird, it still gets routed through the SMTP server of the local ISP first and this of course explains why he has success to both Telus and non-Telus addresses.
