Hello,
If at the console, dmesg piped into more or less should work ( `dmesg | less `). That should contain all text displayed when the system boots.
Also alot of standard messages can appear there latter ... like putting an interface into promiscuous mode.
The logs will only be available if you have syslog setup correctly ... which may be done by your distro. Look in /etc/syslog.conf to see where kern is going.
