Hello Gustin, Shift + page up and Shift + page down work beautifully. I believe that it is possible that my brother already removed telnetd for me, because I could not find it. I know ssh is there because I use it and also because it is displayed in green as "ssh" when I go into the initd directory.
I presume that my brother removed telenetd because it is not as secure as ssh and I therefore do not need it. When I had Mel set me up I asked him to get rid of the GUI log in and give me a console log in. He did just that, and I presume that is why Shift + page up and Shift + page down works after my console log in. Thank you very much for your suggestion. It is the simplest of the suggestions that were given to me, and therefore is the suggestion I will use most often.
